Jesus is the Original Blood Donor

By: Lee Larsen

Someone in the U.S. needs blood every two seconds, according to the Red Cross. By the time you finish reading this blog post, well let’s just say a whole lot of people will need the life-saving miracle that God created, our blood.

Without our blood, we would not have life. Without the generous gift from others, thousands upon thousands of people would lose their life every year. Similarly, without the selfless sacrifice and blood of Jesus, we would not have eternal life.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
— John 3:16
How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
— Hebrews 9:14
For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.
— Romans 6:10-11

In this life, we already stand condemned because of our sins against God. We cannot save ourselves because we are not capable of meeting God's example of perfection!  It took the blood of God's perfect son, Jesus Christ, to wash away all of our sins. Jesus came to earth,  walked among us, and experienced our human frailty. He had so much love and mercy for us that He endured unimaginable pain and suffering, ultimately giving up His last drop of blood to atone for our sins. Jesus is the original blood donor - His transfusion gives us life now and all eternity.
