Honor Leadership, Serve God

By: Lee Larsen

Today, my church sign calendar says, "No matter who is President, Jesus is King."

While the office of the President commands the utmost respect, whether you agree with the political agenda or not, it still is under the control of man. Because of this, it falls far short of the will of God. That is why we are to pray unceasingly for our country and country's leadership so that their decisions are influenced by God's desires and not their sinful nature.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior.
— 1 Timothy 2:1-3
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
— Matthew 6:33
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
— Isaiah 41:10

When we focus intently on what God (out of His infinite love) desires for us, we begin to see the paths that we need to take for ourselves and our country. Through our God-lead directions we can show the world His awesome power and love. It is time for Christians to take a solid stand on the never-changing Word of God. It is time for Christians to resist we picking and choosing what we believe in the Word of God, because that is easily corrupted by our sinful desires.

Pray for our leaders that they receive divine guidance each and every day. Pray for His guidance when choosing our next leaders that their beliefs and ideals are of God. It is time to get serious about our leaders, our country, and our God.
