Christmas Giving

Christmas Giving

When I think about celebrating Christmas, my mind immediately returns to my childhood when I heard the Christmas story...

Don't Worry, God Will Provide

Don't Worry, God Will Provide

As a young boy, I recall standing next to my Grandfather as he hired a neighbor who owned a larger tractor and plow, to get his fields plowed and ready for the winter months...

Wealth = Generosity?

Wealth = Generosity?

Generosity is a true description of this man's life until he was called to his Savior's side...

How Are Your Gardening Skills?

How Are Your Gardening Skills?

The old saying, “We reap what we sow”, takes on a much deeper meaning when we truly understand what God desires from and for us.

The Rest is "His Story"

The Rest is "His Story"

Isn't it a comfort to know that while the world spins madly around us that rest is "His Story"?

Explaining a completed estate plan to a family member or loved one can often be a difficult task.

It All Starts With Love

It All Starts With Love

It All Starts With Love

By: Lee Larsen

Since the 1960’s, we have embraced a culture of “Do whatever feels good”. Through this thought process, we are freed of any guilt that would normally be associated with the sins of greed and self-indulgence.

As a result, we have become accustom to living in our own isolated worlds. When we witness something that doesn’t seem right, we often default to “That is none of my business” and “I don’t want to get involved”. Or worse, we don't even perceive it to be a concern at all!

How many of us don’t even know the people who live right next door to us? How many of us know very little about our government and how it functions? Most do not care as long as their own life is not impacted in a negative way. This is very much how bills get passed in Congress nowadays. "Yes" votes are bought by simply including something in the bill that they personally benefit from. It no longer comes down to what is the best action for our country, but instead it too often comes down to satisfying wants and desires.

God loves us so much and knows what is truly the best for us. That is why He commands us to love and respect one another. And that is why He commands us to speak out in a loving way when we witness something that goes against His will.

For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.
— 2 Timothy 4:3-4
So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
— James 4:17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
— 2 Timothy 3:16-17

It all starts with love, which is a gift from God. To positively influence other, we must love them first. God teaches us how to love as He is the perfect example of love.

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
— John 13:34-35
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
— 1 John 4:8
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
— 1 Corinthians 13:13
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
— 1 John 3:17

Rather than taking the mentality of "I'll do whatever makes me feel good", let's take the mentality of God's truth and love because everything good stems from the love of God. Today, let’s begin by sharing God’s love with the people of our own communities through Christian Kindness.  Let's make a conscience effort to plant seeds of God's love in their daily life.
